The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) is pleased to announce the commencement of the nomination period for the 2024 Bridge Builder Excellence Award (BBEA). This prestigious award aims to recognize outstanding high school football student-athletes who excel not only on the field but also in academics and community contributions.

Launched in 2020, the BBEA celebrates and encourages excellence in football student-athletes, acknowledging their achievements during the 2019-2020 academic year. Last year’s recipient, LaNorris Sellers from South Florence High School, is currently playing as a freshman quarterback at the University of South Carolina.

The award criteria are as follows:

  • Football Excellence: 40%
  • Academics (Minimum 3.2 Core GPA): 30%
  • Exemplary School, Character, Community Citizenship, and Leadership: 30%

Nominations for the 2024 award are open until February 5, 2024. Individuals are encouraged to nominate exceptional high school football players by visiting scfootballhof.org.

Following the nomination period, a statewide Top 10 will be publicly announced, and those individuals will be invited for an interview on the Hall’s Sports and Leadership podcast. From this group, the top three finalists—one from the upstate region, one from the midlands, and one from the low-country—will be selected. These finalists will receive invitations to attend the 11th Annual SCFHOF Enshrinement Ceremony scheduled for April 18.

At the ceremony, a winner will be declared and honored. In a historic move, each of the top three finalists will be awarded a scholarship, recognizing their exceptional achievements throughout the academic year. The 2024 Bridge Builder Excellence Award is made possible by the generosity of The Sturgis Family, The Bostic Family, The Spinx Corporation, and Parham Smith and Archenhold.

Join the SCFHOF in celebrating and supporting the next generation of football student-athletes who embody excellence both on and off the field. Nominate a deserving player today at scfootballhof.org.
