COLUMBIA, S.C.Southeastern Freight Lines, a leading provider of regional less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services, is celebrating an impressive 75 years of delivering “Quality Without Question” at its first two service centers located in Columbia, South Carolina, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Founded in April 1950, Southeastern launched its journey in Columbia with just 14 trucks, 20 associates, and a few dock doors. Since then, the Columbia center has grown to include 102 dock doors and 139 associates, becoming a cornerstone of the company’s operations.

Shortly after, the Atlanta service center opened, beginning with just one associate and a flatbed trailer used for cross-docking freight. Today, it has grown exponentially to 140 dock doors and 294 associates.

“Southeastern’s company culture has been the heartbeat of the Atlanta service center,” said Chris Rich, Atlanta Service Center Manager. “Our positive environment attracts and retains top-tier associates, and our dedicated team is excited to continue advancing our mission.”

To mark the milestone, the Atlanta location is honoring longtime drivers Perryman Baker, approaching 50 years of service, and Larry Spinks, who retired in 2024 after a remarkable 54-year career. Meanwhile, the Columbia center is recognizing Linehaul Driver Michael Crapps, a 50-year veteran of the company, for his dedication to quality service.

“Columbia is where it all started,” said Brian Maddox, Columbia Service Center Manager. “Our strong company culture and deep roots in the community have fueled our growth. Generations of families have made Southeastern their home, and we’re proud to continue that legacy.”

Beyond transportation, Southeastern Freight Lines is deeply involved in community service through its Southeastern Serves initiative. The Atlanta team has partnered with nonprofits like New Morning Light Baptist Church and A Friend’s House, while the Columbia team supports local organizations including Special Olympics South Carolina and Habitat for Humanity.
