Lexington County authorities are reaching out to the community for assistance following a tragic incident that unfolded early Sunday morning at a bar in Swansea.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon stated, “Deputies were called to Amici Tavern around 3:20 a.m. in response to reports of gunfire. We’ve been diligently investigating the scene, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing surveillance footage from nearby establishments.” He emphasized, “We’ve been called in by the Swansea Police Department, and currently, we’re piecing together limited information. This is why we’re urging anyone who was present at the bar or has pertinent details about the incident to come forward.”
According to witness accounts, a dispute between two individuals escalated inside the bar before spilling into the parking lot, where tragically, one man was shot by another.
“As per our findings, following the altercation, the assailant fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle, while the victim was promptly transported by friends to a nearby location where they awaited medical assistance,” Koon explained.
Individuals with any information regarding the incident are encouraged to share it anonymously via the Midlands Crimestoppers mobile app. Sheriff Koon highlighted the potential for a cash reward for those whose tips lead to an arrest.
