Kimberly Case is State of the Art’s featured artist during the month of March. A gifted midland’s artist who uses her camera and imagination to capture the hearts of her subjects and viewers, Case has created a self-portrait that speaks to the current crisis. The self-portrait depicts a Ukrainian woman holding a bouquet of the country’s famous sunflowers in her hand, a rifle slung over her shoulder. It is a poignant capture of the beauty and strength of the people of Ukraine.

Ms. Case and State of the Art will showcase this photograph with a collection site for donations that will be sent to Samaritan’s Purse. This recognized charity is providing shelter and medical services to refugees pouring over the Polish border. SOTA will match donations up to $1000 during the month of March and give 15% of the gallery’s proceeds sales for the month to go toward the effort. Kimberly is putting the photograph up for silent auction till the end of March and will add the proceeds from the sale of the print to this donation. Anyone making a donation may have their photo taken with Case’s portrait holding an “I stand with the Ukraine” sign to post on their social media and to be posted on SOTA’s Instagram site.

The fundraiser will begin Friday, March 11 during Kimberly’s reception from 3-6 at State of the Art Gallery, 2007 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033. For more information call Barbara at 803-429-2323.

From SOTA, “When State of the Art galleries saw Kimberly Cases newest self-portrait today, we knew we wanted to use this is an opportunity for our local communities to show and send their support to those displaced by the war in Ukraine.”
