Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony March 13 for its new Midlands Clean Tech Accelerator Lab in Columbia.

The Clean Tech Accelerator is designed to provide job training and placement opportunities, preparing participants for careers in the growing clean energy sector. Qualifying trainees can earn certifications as installers or technicians in solar and energy storage systems, heat pumps, and electric vehicle supply equipment.

Located at 555 St. Andrews Road, the facility features more than 2,500 square feet of training and classroom space.

Among those attending the event were Richland County Council Vice Chair Derrek Pugh (District 2), Alan Wilson, and Goodwill regional staff.
