Golf tournament fundraiser meets goals to provide backing for programs

The SC Philharmonic presented its 12th annual Golfing with the Phil tournament on October 11, 2021, at The Wildewood Country Club. Under the leadership of event co-chairs Tom Fortson and Mike Kelly, the tournament was a sell-out and raised $25,000 for the SC Phil’s artistic and education programs. The winner of the tournament was the Rice Music House team.

Golfing with the Phil has been one of the SC Philharmonic’s most successful fundraising events for over a decade. This year, teams enjoyed a beautiful day on the premiere greens at Wildewood Country Club. Complete with beer service, special cocktail stops along the course, boxed lunches and the day ending with dinner – the tournament is expected to return in Fall 2022.

SC Philharmonic Development Director Robin Hallyburton was delighted to see this year’s tournament meet fundraising goals of $25,000 to support the organization’s artistic and educational programs. “This tournament is a fun way to generate the funding needed to maximize the Phil’s potential,” said Hallyburton. “We couldn’t have done it without our amazing co-chairs, teams and sponsors.” The tournament’s Grand Sponsor was Terminix; Gold Sponsors were McDaniels Auto Group and Carolina Metabolic Weight Loss & Wellness; Silver Sponsors were FACES, Forshaw, Propel Insurance and Vista Insurance Group. Lunch was provided by Café Strudel. Dinner was provided by Graham’s Catering. Beverages were provided by Pepsi and Greene’s.
