Recognized at SC Statehouse on Wednesday, May 11th, Lieutenant General Herman Stacy Clardy III of Chapin and Pawleys Island, SC, was honored with the Order of the Palmetto upon the occasion of his retirement after nearly four decades of outstanding service to his country in the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit three times, and the Bronze Star Medal for valor. He held many leadership and staff positions throughout his career. He is married to Alison Clardy, also a retired Marine, and they have three daughters.
