Footwear purchases and customer donations will benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank
Mast General Store and Merrell are teaming up for the 17th annual Food for Kids campaign to help fight childhood hunger.
From Oct. 12-25, Merrell will donate $15 to a children’s fund at a local food security agency for every pair of Merrell shoes or boots purchased at Mast General Store locations or online.
In Columbia, the donations will benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank, which was founded in 1981 and serves 20 South Carolina counties. Harvest Hope is the state’s largest food bank.
The campaign’s donations can have an even greater impact through food banks’ purchasing power. By combining donations, bulk purchasing and volunteer support, food security agencies can stretch $1 into $3, $4 or more in food value.
According to No Kid Hungry, as many as 14 million children in the United States live in households where access to adequate food and nutrition is limited or uncertain. In parts of Mast General Store’s four-state region, one in four children does not know where their next meal will come from.
Customers who purchase Merrell footwear during the campaign can support local families while taking home quality shoes or boots. Other customers can contribute by choosing to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout through Oct. 25.
The annual Food for Kids campaign provides an opportunity for customers to help local food banks deliver meals and support children facing food insecurity.
