The SC Association of Counties (SCAC) awarded Lexington County Attorney Jeff M. Anderson the 2023 David K. Summers Jr. President’s Cup for his public service and dedication to South Carolina county government.

Every year, the Association’s president recognizes a county official who has distinguished himself by service to county government and help to the SCAC president.

“I have the privilege of recognizing someone who exemplifies the best of county government—the best of Lexington County government,” said Debra B. Summers, SCAC President for 2022-23 and Lexington County Council member. “In my nearly 20 years as a council member, one of the constant guiding forces has been Jeff Anderson, who gives us legal guidance and professional opinion.”

Anderson, who works at Davis Frawley and has been the Lexington County attorney since 1988, got the honor from Summers on Aug. 2 at the SCAC Annual Conference closing ceremony.

Anderson provides the county with a wide range of legal services and has contested matters before the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

“Jeff loves Lexington County and has given back to our county for more than three decades,” Summers said. “I am so appreciative of his service and guidance over the years. It’s my honor to recognize his contributions to making Lexington County the best it can be for our citizens.”

Anderson, a native of Edgefield, attended Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Anderson worked as a judicial law clerk for former Governor and Circuit Judge George Bell Timmerman, Jr. and Circuit Judge Hubert E. Long before joining Davis Frawley in Lexington.

He hails from a legal family. Joe F. Anderson, Sr., his father, was an attorney in Edgefield for 40 years. Greg, Ben, and Joe, his brothers, are all lawyers. The Andersons all attended Clemson University, and the moot courtroom at Clemson is named after Joe F. Anderson, Sr.

Anderson and his wife Melanie are members of Lexington United Methodist Church and have two children.
