Irmo Police have announced an arrest in connection with a shooting incident May 30.

The Irmo Police were called after two vehicles were exchanging gunfire while traveling into the Friarsgate neighborhood. One of the vehicles crashed into another motorist. Four of the occupants from that vehicle fled the area on foot.

The two occupants of the vehicle that was struck were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.

Officers and K-9 units from Irmo, Lexington and Richland County Sheriff’s Department immediately flooded the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The other vehicle involved in the shooting also fled the area.

Investigators have continued to process evidence and connected Bryan D. Miron-Herrera, 18, of Pelion as the driver of the vehicle that crashed. Miron-Herrera was taken into custody this afternoon without incident and has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Bryan Miron-Herrera has been charged with Hit and Run and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. Investigators are still working to find out what led up to the shots being fired during the incident and to identify the other people involved.

“These young adults were extremely reckless with their actions, and it will not be tolerated in our community,” said Irmo Police Chief Courtney Dennis.
