The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will host a drop-in public meeting Tuesday, February 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree hotel, 2100 Bush River Road in Columbia, to discuss Phase 3C of the Carolina Crossroads Project.
The multiphase Carolina Crossroads initiative is designed to reconfigure and improve the Interstate 20, Interstate 26 and Interstate 126 interchanges, along with approximately 14 miles of surrounding interstate corridor in Lexington and Richland counties.
The drop-in format will allow attendees to review design plans and learn about anticipated traffic impacts during construction of Phase 3C. Members of the project team will be available throughout the event to answer questions and speak one-on-one with residents.
Phase 3C includes replacing the I-20 bridges over the Saluda River and the CSX railroad. The project also calls for widening a portion of I-20 between U.S. 378 (Sunset Boulevard) and Bush River Road to accommodate future lane additions in upcoming phases.
According to SCDOT, Phase 3C will prepare the corridor for connection to future project phases and provide new bridges that meet current design standards.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with completion anticipated in 2029.
