The construction of the Irmo First Responders Memorial, located near the Irmo Police Department on Columbia Ave, is now underway. This significant project aims to honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of Irmo’s first responders.
The memorial will feature an obelisk and four benches made of granite, symbolizing the virtues of honor, courage, and sacrifice embodied by Irmo’s first responders. Positioned on a paver base, the obelisk will prominently display emblems representing Irmo Fire, Irmo PD, EMS, and the Town of Irmo.
In a poignant tribute, a special plaque commemorating fallen Irmo Fireman James M. Muller will be included in the memorial, ensuring his memory is honored and preserved.
The community eagerly anticipates the dedication of the memorial, scheduled to take place near the end of May 2024. This meaningful tribute will serve as a lasting reminder of the selfless service and unwavering commitment of Irmo’s first responders to the safety and well-being of the community.
