Portions of the trail at the Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park will be closed for maintenance for three weeks as of May 9. All trails will be open on weekends and in the evenings after 6 pm.
The closure is necessary to protect the public during machine clearing of vegetation. The clearing allows workers to inspect the levy, and protects the Columbia’s source water.
Restrooms at both ends of the park will remain open during this project, and portions of the trail at either end will be accessible.
Work will begin at the north end of the park, 4122 River Drive and proceed south along the west embankment, then return northward along the east embankment. It will not be possible to travel the entire length of the trail during weekdays between 7 am and 6 pm.
The public is advised to respect barricades in the work zone for their safety.
