COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 20, 2025) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will temporarily close the I-20 Westbound ramp to I-26 Westbound (Exit 64B) overnight on Wednesday, October 22, beginning at 11 p.m. The ramp is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Thursday, October 23.

The closure is needed for crews to complete construction work as part of the ongoing Carolina Crossroads Project, which aims to improve traffic flow and safety in one of the Midlands’ busiest interstate interchanges.

During the closure, drivers traveling from I-20 Westbound to I-26 Westbound should follow the posted detour route:

  • Continue on I-20 Westbound and take Exit 64A to I-26 Eastbound

  • Take Exit 107B to I-20 Eastbound

  • Then use Exit 64B to merge onto I-26 Westbound

Detour signs will be in place to help guide motorists through the alternate route.

SCDOT reminds all drivers to slow down, remain alert, and use extra caution in work zones for the safety of both workers and travelers.
