If you’re happy with your current set of irons and aren’t looking to upgrade, now is the perfect time to check the lie angle and make any necessary adjustments. Over time, club heads can shift due to regular use—especially if you’ve accidentally hit a root, rock, or other hard surface.

A properly adjusted lie angle can improve both accuracy and distance. If your loft is too high or too low, or if your divots are off-center—favoring the heel or toe—your shots may not be as precise as they could be.

Here’s a simple rule of thumb:

  • Too upright of a lie angle tends to result in hooks.

  • Too flat of a lie angle often leads to fades or slices.

To get the best performance, find a trusted fitter or club specialist—many top players get their irons adjusted for loft and lie to ensure they’re hitting more greens and lowering their scores. A small tweak could make a big difference in your game!
