Thomas Smith Jr.<\/i> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Midlands-area women\u2019s shelters became the unexpected beneficiaries of eight large bags (and two boxes full) of brand-new and slightly used women\u2019s clothes, a gift from Courtney and Austin Cable to women-in-need facilitated through the Richland County Sheriff\u2019s Department\u2019s (RCSD) Victims Services Unit. The donations were made, Friday, Aug. 21, and according to Courtney Cable, there will be more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initial donation was made as the Cables were setting-up a room in their home as a nursery for their new baby due in late September. \u201cI had the clothes and we needed the space,\u201d said Courtney, a professional fitness instructor and soon-to-be mom who promises additional donations. \u201cWe plan to set up donation boxes going forward at the gym where I work and various other One Life Fitness Centers across central South Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Courtney: RCSD is \u201cthe perfect facilitating agency\u201d because the department is already connected in terms of how best to support women\u2019s shelters \u2013 most shelters with confidential addresses for safety reasons \u2013 and Victims Services deputies know which shelters have the greatest need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGenerous donations like this make all the difference in the world to women with limited resources and even fewer options,\u201d said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. \u201cWe will get these clothes to the right places, and we urge others within the community to open their hearts as have the Cables.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Courtney adds: \u201cOur plan is to establish clothing drives, not only for women\u2019s clothing items, but also much-needed feminine supplies, hygiene items, baby items, and children\u2019s clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A much in-demand fitness coach and staff member at One Life Fitness-Sandhills, Courtney is a former NCAA Division 1 softball player \u2013 centerfielder and field utility player (multiple positions) \u2013 for the Stetson University Hatters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Husband Austin Cable, who delivered the clothes with Courtney is a formerly deployed U.S. Marine Corps sergeant and veteran of the Iraq War who served as a USMC air-defense NCO and a member of two separate Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When he\u2019s not assisting Courtney and preparing for newfound fatherhood, Austin is a program manager for Constellis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going forward donations may be made during the forthcoming supply drives at One Life Fitness Centers or directly to Brookland Empowerment Center, The Cooperative Ministry, Killingsworth Home for Women, and the Good Samaritan Clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Pictured (L-R) \u2013 Austin Cable, Courtney Cable, Ms. Bunnie Harris and Investigator Gabriel Ramos.<\/i> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtney and Austin Cable reach out through the Richland County Sheriff\u2019s Department By W.
