Before embarking on a season-long 3-game road trip against Coastal Plain League Eastern Division foes, the Lexington County Blowfish had a “blast” celebrating Irish Night at home.<\/p>\n
Sparked by River Bluff graduate Thomas Powell’s five RBI, including a second-inning grand slam, the Blowfish routed the Macon Bacon 16-1 in six innings last Friday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.<\/p>\n
After taking a 1-0 lead in the Bottom 1st on an RBI single by Brookland-Cayce graduate Parker Mergo, the Blowfish loaded the bases in the second inning.<\/p>\n
Powell came to bat and sent the first pitch over the rightfield wall to clear the bases.<\/p>\n
The Bacon scored their lone run in the Top 4th inning. Lexington County closed out the game with 11 unanswered runs, including a 3-run triple by Rex Smith and 2-run homer by Brody Yeomans.<\/p>\n
On the mound, the trio of Jackson Burton, Aidan Stewart and Britton Ellenberg combined to allow just four hits and strike out 12 in seven innings.<\/p>\n
The Blowfish began the road trip with a 15-5 loss in seven innings at the Peninsula Pilots. They had 10 hits, but committed six errors.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Lexington County bounced back with a 14-4 win over the Greenville Yard Gnomes that also ended in seven innings.<\/p>\n
Both Walker and Drew Buchanan went 3-5 with Derek driving in two runs. He was also one of three Blowfish players who homered, including Beau Ruey who had a team-high three RBI and Smith who had two RBI.<\/p>\n
Rainfall cut short the road trip Monday in Wilmington, North Carolina. The game will be made up this Saturday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium as part of a doubleheader starting at 5:05 p.m.<\/p>\n
Gates will open at 4 p.m. and both games will go seven innings.<\/p>\n
