I hope some—if not all—of you had a chance to watch The Masters Tournament<\/span><\/span>!<\/p>\n

We saw many drives over 300 yards, expertly shaped to match the curvature of each hole. From there, players had to select the proper club to reach firm, lightning-fast greens—hoping the ball would stop instead of rolling off into trouble.<\/p>\n

Then, of course, the real challenge begins.<\/p>\n

Putting on greens that are as fast as linoleum, with 30-foot putts breaking dramatically, is something most of us can hardly imagine. We may think we’ve played on fast greens with a lot of slope, but under those conditions, many of us would be three- and four-putting on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

What separates these top players is experience. They’ve seen these conditions before and can make quick adjustments—something that comes with time, practice, and a deep understanding of the game.<\/p>\n

If the average course—public, resort, or country club—had these same conditions, the pace of play would slow dramatically. In fact, it would likely become so slow that many golfers wouldn’t want to play, and courses would lose revenue as a result. Slower greens help keep play moving, especially for higher handicappers.<\/p>\n

Senior Tip:<\/strong> When you visit a new course or prepare for a tournament, don’t spend all your time hitting balls on the driving range. Instead, focus on chipping and putting around the practice green. You’ll develop a much better feel for distance—and ultimately score better.<\/p>\n
