Community leaders, changemakers and book lovers are invited to an evening of conversation and connection as Alencia Johnson<\/span><\/span><\/strong> visits Columbia for a fireside chat and book signing centered around her new book, Flip the Tables: The Everyday Disruptor’s Guide to Finding Courage and Making Change<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event will be hosted by Tameika Isaac Devine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and former Steve Benjamin<\/span><\/span><\/strong> on Friday, March 13, from 6–8 p.m. at The Mansion on Blanding<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The evening will feature a discussion with Johnson about leadership, courage, civic engagement and the strategies everyday people can use to challenge systems and create meaningful change in their communities. Following the conversation, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Johnson and participate in a book signing.<\/p>\n

A native of Virginia, Johnson is a nationally recognized voice in politics, advocacy and communications. She is a frequent commentator on CNN<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, MSNBC<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, NewsOne<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and BET<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, and has been featured in outlets including NPR<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, The Washington Post<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Essence<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Glamour<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and HuffPost<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Her leadership has earned recognition on EBONY<\/span><\/span><\/strong> magazine’s “Power 100,” PRWeek<\/span><\/span><\/strong>’s “40 Under 40,” and The Root<\/span><\/span><\/strong>’s “Root 100” list of influential Black leaders. She has also been honored as a “Champion in PR” by PRWeek and named Woman of the Year by Harvard University Black Men’s Forum<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Her debut book, Flip the Tables<\/em>, encourages readers to challenge the status quo and create positive change in their workplaces, communities and public life.<\/p>\n
