(January 15, 2026)<\/strong> &mdash; Dominion Energy will conduct its annual test of the Lake Murray Dam inundation siren system on <strong data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"402\">Tuesday, January 20, at 1 p.m.<\/strong> The test will last approximately <strong data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"453\">three minutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"743\">The annual January test includes <strong data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"511\">10 rotating sirens<\/strong> located along the Saluda River in <strong data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"581\">Richland and Lexington counties<\/strong>. The sirens are part of an emergency notification system designed to alert the public in the unlikely event of an issue at the Lake Murray dam or its backup dam.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"910\">If an actual emergency were to occur, the sirens would signal residents to tune in to local radio or television stations for additional information and instructions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1209\">&ldquo;Keeping our employees and the public safe is our top priority,&rdquo; said <strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1069\">Iris Griffin, vice president of power generation for Dominion Energy South Carolina<\/strong>. &ldquo;We conduct regular drills and continuously prepare for highly unlikely events in our safe and reliable operation of the Lake Murray dam.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1432\">In addition to the annual test, Dominion Energy conducts a <strong data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1298\">monthly, one-minute test<\/strong> of the sirens. These tests are required as part of the company&rsquo;s operating license with the <strong data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1431\">Federal Energy Regulatory Commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1535\">Residents are reminded that the January 20 siren activation is a scheduled test and not an emergency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CAYCE, S.C.
