A 21-year-old Lexington woman has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting Tuesday night in West Columbia.<\/p>\n
Lexington County deputies responded to a home in the 2700 block of Leaphart Road following a 911 call about a gunshot wound. Authorities say the victim, identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as 57-year-old Joel Todd McCullough, was found deceased at the residence, which he owned.<\/p>\n
According to Sheriff Jay Koon, a witness told deputies he heard a “loud gunshot” after an argument between McCullough and the suspect, McKenzie Leigh Brady. Brady and McCullough were known to each other prior to the incident, which authorities describe as isolated.<\/p>\n
After securing a search warrant, deputies discovered a firearm at the scene. Brady was arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center, where she remains after a magistrate judge denied bond on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Sheriff Koon said detectives are continuing to investigate the events that led up to the shooting.<\/p>\n
