The South Carolina State Museum is once again showing its appreciation for those who serve. As part of the Blue Star Museums initiative, active-duty military personnel and their families can enjoy free general admission now through Labor Day, September 1.<\/p>\n
“We are honored to show our appreciation for those serving in the military,” said Amy Bartow-Melia, executive director of the museum. “The museum is a great summer destination and, as a Blue Star Museum, we’re happy for the opportunity to make visiting more accessible to military families.”<\/p>\n
Blue Star guests receive free access to all four floors of the museum’s permanent exhibitions. Tickets to special exhibits, the 4D theater, or planetarium shows are available for an extra fee.<\/p>\n
This summer, the museum is also offering extended hours:<\/p>\n
Open every Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Open late until 9 p.m.<\/strong> on select Fridays: August 15, and September 19<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n “Sea Lion 4D”<\/strong> – In the 4D theater. Join Otto the sea lion pup on an underwater adventure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n “Into America’s Wild”<\/strong> – A new planetarium journey launched in June, featuring stunning, lesser-known landscapes across the country.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Free general admission is available for those currently serving in:<\/p>\n U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n National Guard, Reserves<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n NOAA Commissioned Corps<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Up to five family members<\/strong> can attend for free with the service member.
