LAKE MURRAY, S.C.<\/strong> — Grab your paddleboard, kayak, canoe—or even your favorite float—and help make a difference in the lives of those in need. Paddle for PAALS<\/strong>, the annual water-based fundraiser for Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS)<\/strong>, is back this summer with a mission to change lives, one paddle stroke at a time.<\/p>\n

Participants are invited to hit the water anytime leading up to Friday, July 12<\/strong>, logging their hours and collecting donations to support PAALS’ work: training and placing service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities, autism, and trauma-related challenges.<\/p>\n

Community members, paddling enthusiasts, and service animal supporters can register as individuals or form teams. Creative spirit is encouraged, with awards going to top fundraisers and teams who go above and beyond in flair and participation.<\/p>\n

“Every paddle stroke helps us train dogs that transform lives,” said Melissa Payne<\/strong>, Executive Director of PAALS. “These dogs become trusted partners, offering independence, emotional support, and hope.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The cost of training and placing a single service dog can exceed $35,000<\/strong> and take more than two years. Funds raised during Paddle for PAALS<\/strong> go directly toward dog care, training, and placement.<\/p>\n
