Lexington Police Department helps residents beat the heat with annual program<\/em><\/p>\n

LEXINGTON, SC – With summer temperatures already soaring, the Lexington Police Department is once again offering a helping hand—and a cool breeze—through its annual “Operation: Cool Down”<\/strong> program.<\/p>\n

Launched to assist residents during the sweltering South Carolina summer, the program provides free box-style fans<\/strong> to individuals and families in need. It’s made possible through the generous support of local businesses, churches, civic groups, and individuals who donate new fans each year.<\/p>\n

“The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority,” said Chief Terrence Green. “This program has made a real difference for many of our residents, especially the elderly and those without air conditioning.”<\/p>\n

Residents of the Town of Lexington<\/strong> can pick up a fan by visiting the Lexington Police Department at 111 Maiden Lane<\/strong> during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday). Those without transportation may be eligible for home delivery by a Community Action Team (C.A.T.) officer.<\/p>\n

Over 150 individuals and families<\/strong> benefit from the program each year, and demand continues to grow. While priority is given to Town of Lexington residents, fans may be available to those in the greater Midlands area depending on supply.<\/p>\n

How to Help:<\/strong>
Community members are encouraged to donate new box fans to support the program. Donations can be made through the Lexington Police Department Foundation<\/strong>, and receipts for tax purposes are available upon request.<\/p>\n
