Commonly referred to as the “wind-up,” the proper golf swing sequence begins with a full hip turn, a shift in weight, and a shoulder turn that allows the extended arms to swing freely. As the wrists hinge, the clubface sets naturally into the correct position for the intended shot shape.<\/p>\n
The most common issue I see in students? They’re not light enough on their feet to allow a full hip turn and weight transfer on the backswing. That means there’s nothing to shift at the top, and the downswing starts with poor sequencing—or no sequence at all.<\/p>\n
If we can learn to go back right, we may finally learn how to start down correctly.<\/p>\n
