The museum, located at <strong data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"592\">301 Gervais Street<\/strong> in downtown Columbia, will now serve as the Hall of Fame&rsquo;s official home.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"893\">&ldquo;This is another terrific day in the history of athletics in South Carolina,&rdquo; said <strong data-start=\"751\" data-end=\"767\">Andy Solomon<\/strong>, SCAHOF Executive Director. &ldquo;To go from word-of-mouth and banquet ceremonies to a permanent exhibit space is a game changer.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"1228\">Founded in the late 1950s by the South Carolina Association of Sportswriters, the Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 1960. That inaugural group included legends like <strong data-start=\"1067\" data-end=\"1082\">Rex Enright<\/strong> (USC), <strong data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1108\">Banks McFadden<\/strong> (Clemson), and <strong data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1140\">Frank Selvey<\/strong> (Furman). Clemson football coach <strong data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1190\">Frank Howard<\/strong> served as the Hall&rsquo;s first president.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1552\"><strong data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1250\">Amy Bartow-Melia<\/strong>, Executive Director of the State Museum, said the partnership aligns perfectly with the museum&rsquo;s mission. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re committed to preserving and sharing stories that reflect our state&rsquo;s history and culture.
