The honorees represent the very best of South Carolina&rsquo;s first responders, recognized for their dedication, courage, and service to the community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These individuals showcase the bravery and commitment we rely on daily,&#8221; said SAFE President and CEO Michael Baker. &#8220;We are honored to recognize their extraordinary efforts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s award recipients are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Sergeant Kenneth Fitzsimmons<\/strong>, Richland County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department: A former U.S. Army infantry NCO, Sergeant Fitzsimmons was honored for saving the life of a suicidal man, earning the South Carolina Sheriffs&#8217; Association Medal of Valor for his bravery and compassion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Heather &#8220;Nickie&#8221; Jarrell<\/strong>, Beaufort County EMS: A dual paramedic and firefighter, Jarrell has been recognized for her outstanding patient care and community support, often personally assisting those in need.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Director Jackie Swindler<\/strong>, South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy: With 48 years of service, including as Chief of Police in Newberry, Swindler has been a strong advocate for ethics in law enforcement and serves on several national security task forces.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Chief John T. Bowers<\/strong>, South Carolina Firefighters Association: Recently retired from a 44-year career, Bowers continues to serve the Camden Fire Department as a volunteer and holds leadership roles in the state firefighting community.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each of the recipients was nominated by their respective professional organizations: the SC Fraternal Order of Police, SC Firefighters Association, SC EMS Association, and SC Law Enforcement Officers Organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About SAFE Federal Credit Union<\/strong>:<br \/>Founded in 1955, SAFE is one of South Carolina&#8217;s largest financial institutions, serving over 145,000 members with 19 branches and more than $1.8 billion in assets.
