Guests who are neurodiverse, autistic or have other disabilities are invited to wear their costumes, enjoy allergy-free trick-or-treating and experience the State Museum at their own pace on October 14 from 9 – 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
The program provides free access for families of children, teenagers, young adults and adults who would benefit from a quieter, sensory-friendly and disability-adapted experience at the museum.<\/p>\n
During this event, guests may meet a character from Pete the Cat for a special book reading, experience a sensory-friendly showing in the museum’s 4D theater and enjoy some early-trick-or-treating with each community partner table having allergy-free, nut-free treats available for trick-or-treating.<\/p>\n
An ASL Interpreter will be available during the 9:30 am storytime, 9:45 am sensory show and 10:30 am Dark History Tour. ASL interpretation is sponsored by Colonial Life and provided by certified interpreters through the SC School for the Deaf and Blind.
General admission to Accessibility Mornings is free for all participants, online registration is highly recommended.<\/p>\n
