{"id":5384,"date":"2023-10-03T16:22:23","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T16:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/03\/state-museum-announces-october-activities\/"},"modified":"2023-10-03T16:22:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T16:22:23","slug":"state-museum-announces-october-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/03\/state-museum-announces-october-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"State Museum announces October activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Halloween fun returns to the South Carolina State Museum this October with a lineup of shows and events. <\/p>\n<p>Guests are invited to enjoy a full month of activities, including Dark History Tours, 4D experiences, a special themed &ldquo;Fright&rdquo; Night Laser Lights event and more.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s something for everyone to enjoy this Halloween at the museum,&rdquo; said Doug Beermann, Chief Operating Officer at the State Museum. &ldquo;Not only are we bringing back our popular Dark History Tours and a thrilling 4D show featuring Scooby Doo, but we also look forward to having the museum&rsquo;s Jack O&rsquo; Planetarium light up each night throughout October.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Showing daily this October only, SCOOB. 4D Experience is an immersive film featuring Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne in an all-new story. The lifelong friends face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever when they learn of a plot to unleash a wild beast from a prehistoric underworld. Including 3D animation, effects such as seat movement, air blasts and more, this may be the Mystery Machine&rsquo;s wildest adventure yet. Guests are also encouraged to get up close and personal with some of the world&rsquo;s most strange and mysterious sharks in the museum&rsquo;s newest 4D experience, BBC Earth&rsquo;s Shark: A 4D Experience.<\/p>\n<p>The museum is also offering &ldquo;Dark History Tours&rdquo; all month long that explore a variety of infamous and legendary tales throughout South Carolina&rsquo;s history. During this tour guests will discover the true story of Columbia&rsquo;s catacombs, hear stories from Gullah Geechee folklore and more. Educator-led tours are available each Saturday in October at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm A self-guided experience is also available every day with descriptive panels and QR codes at each &lsquo;stop<\/p>\n<p><b>More October Shows and Events<\/b><br \/>Tickets for the museum&rsquo;s October shows and events are available at scmuseum.org.<\/p>\n<p><b>HalloScream Laser Lights Planetarium Experience<\/b><br \/>Showing Weekends in October<\/p>\n<p>See your favorite Halloween tunes, including &ldquo;Thriller&rdquo;, &ldquo;Monster Mash&rdquo; and &ldquo;Ghostbusters&rdquo; set to a brilliant display of dynamic laser lights inside the museum&rsquo;s digital dome planetarium.<\/p>\n<p><b>Accessibility Morning<\/b><br \/>October 14, from 9 &ndash; 11 am<br \/>This program provides free access for families of children, teenagers, young adults and adults who would benefit from a quieter, sensory-friendly and disability-adapted experience at the museum. During this month&rsquo;s event, participants are invited to wear their Halloween costumes, see a sensory-friendly showing of SCOOB. 4D, take a Dark History Tour with ASL interpretation and more. Pre-registration at <a href=\"https:\/\/scmuseum.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scmuseum.org<\/a> is encouraged.<\/p>\n<p><b>&ldquo;Fright&rdquo; Night Laser Lights<\/b><br \/>October 27, 6 &ndash; 10 pm<br \/>Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd&rsquo;s iconic album, Dark Side of the Moon, and enjoy iconic songs from the popular television series, Stranger Things, during &ldquo;Fright&rdquo; Night Laser Lights. This special Halloween event returns featuring laser light experiences in the museum&rsquo;s digital dome planetarium, plus a cash bar with beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Tickets are on sale now at <a href=\"https:\/\/scmuseum.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scmuseum.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>General admission to the South Carolina State Museum is $8.95 for adults; $7.95 for Seniors; $6.95 for children; infants two and younger are free. Planetarium experiences, 4d theater shows and tickets to Fright Night Laser Lights are an additional charge.
