{"id":3947,"date":"2022-04-14T17:05:55","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T17:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/14\/fbi-columbia-accepting-teen-academy-applications\/"},"modified":"2022-04-14T17:05:55","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T17:05:55","slug":"fbi-columbia-accepting-teen-academy-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/14\/fbi-columbia-accepting-teen-academy-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"FBI Columbia accepting Teen Academy applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FBI Columbia field office has announced applications for the annual Teen Academy are now available online. <\/p>\n<p>This year&rsquo;s course will be held July 20-21 from 9 am to 4 pm at the FBI Columbia headquarters, located at 151 Westpark Boulevard in Columbia. <\/p>\n<p>The Teen Academy program allows students ages 15-18 to get a comprehensive look into today&rsquo;s FBI. Students will receive presentations on topics including terrorism, cybercrime, public corruption, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and other day-to-day FBI field office operations. <\/p>\n<p>Those interested in participating in the FBI Columbia Youth Academy must have parental approval before applying and must meet the eligibility requirements as follows: <\/p>\n<p>&bull; Must be a United States citizen<br \/>&bull; Must reside in South Carolina<br \/>&bull; Must be between the ages of 15 and 18<br \/>&bull; Must be enrolled in an accredited high school or home-school environment, recognized by your school district<br \/>&bull; Must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>Students who meet the eligibility requirements must complete an application, which can be found by visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/contact-us\/field-offices\/columbia\/community-outreach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/contact-us\/field-offices\/columbia\/community-outreach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students will also be required to type a 500-word essay on why they would like to attend the Teen Academy, and how they would apply what they will learn to their futures. Applications and essays are due by 5 pm April 22. Applications submitted after that date will not be accepted. <\/p>\n<p>Completed applications and essays may be emailed to Columbia_Outreach@FBI.gov.
