{"id":3449,"date":"2021-09-28T16:36:18","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T16:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2021\/09\/28\/lexington-medical-center-begins-administering-covid-19-boosters\/"},"modified":"2021-09-28T16:36:18","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T16:36:18","slug":"lexington-medical-center-begins-administering-covid-19-boosters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gpstrianglenews.com\/index.php\/2021\/09\/28\/lexington-medical-center-begins-administering-covid-19-boosters\/","title":{"rendered":"Lexington Medical Center Begins Administering COVID-19 Boosters"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Lexington Medical Center is administering COVID-19 boosters to eligible individuals at its vaccination clinic located at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.<i><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/i><\/div>\n<div><u><\/u>&nbsp;<u><\/u><\/div>\n<div>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control have approved booster doses of the&nbsp;<b>Pfizer-BioNTech<\/b>&nbsp;COVID-19 vaccine for specific groups and outlined when the doses should be given.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div><b>&nbsp;<\/b><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care setting&nbsp;<b>should<\/b>&nbsp;receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech&rsquo;s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>People aged 50&ndash;64 years with underlying medical conditions<b>&nbsp;should<\/b>&nbsp;receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech&rsquo;s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>People aged 18&ndash;49 years with underlying medical conditions<b>&nbsp;may&nbsp;<\/b>receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech&rsquo;s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>People aged 18&ndash;64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting&nbsp;<b>may&nbsp;<\/b>receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech&rsquo;s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<br \/>To expedite the registration process, individuals are asked to bring their COVID-19 vaccination card showing their first two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The booster dose is the same dosage as the first two dosages of the Pfizer-BioNTech. The booster dose should be administered at least six months following the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div><u><\/u>&nbsp;<u><\/u><\/div>\n<div>Lexington Medical Center&rsquo;s COVID-19 vaccination clinic is located inside the Health and Wellness Center at Brookland Baptist Church at 1066 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia.
