The South Carolina Wildlife Federation (SCWF) has opened entries for the 2025 South Carolina Songbird Art Contest, presented in partnership with Wildlife Forever and sponsored by Dominion Energy.

The free contest invites all K–12 students statewide to express their creativity while learning about the native and migratory birds that frequent South Carolina. The deadline to enter is November 30.

Students may submit artwork featuring one of this year’s five highlighted species:
Black-and-white warbler
White-breasted nuthatch
Purple finch
Carolina wren
Painted bunting

Students in grades 4–12 are also required to submit a short essay alongside their artwork. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality. Winners of the South Carolina contest will advance to the Wildlife Forever National Songbird Art Contest, giving young artists the opportunity to gain recognition at the national level.

SCWF’s website offers educational resources for teachers, parents, and youth leaders to help incorporate the contest into classrooms, after-school programs, and at-home learning.
