South Carolina Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school, has announced enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year is now open to students in grades K-11 across the state.
Currently in its 16th year of operation, South Carolina Connections Academy offers an established, online education experience and serves about 6,000 students in grades K-12 statewide.
New for the 2025-26 academic year, South Carolina Connections Academy will launch its expanded College and Early Career Readiness program for middle and high school students. The school will integrate traditional academic subjects with industry-leading, career-focused options like IT, business, health sciences and marketing. This new program will equip students with durable skills like leadership, critical thinking and teamwork. Students can participate in career exploration and industry networking opportunities to build confidence, make connections and find direction to prepare for their future.
South Carolina Connections Academy provides students with a curriculum led by state-certified educators who specialize in online teaching. Beyond academics, South Carolina Connections Academy offers a well-rounded school experience, focusing on building fundamental life skills and coursework that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration.
“Every student comes to South Carolina Connections Academy with unique goals and challenges, and our team works tirelessly to meet them where they are, helping them achieve success both academically and personally,” said Josh Kitchens, executive director at South Carolina Connections Academy. “Having been part of this school community since its founding in 2008, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact our program can have on students’ lives. Whether they join us seeking flexibility, a more personalized approach, or a supportive environment, our mission is to provide learning for all.”
“I’ve been part of South Carolina Connections Academy since fourth grade, and they’ve been instrumental in helping me achieve my goal of playing collegiate golf,” said Aiken resident Kristin “Allie” Thomas, a South Carolina Connections Academy senior headed to Southern Wesleyan University in the fall. “The amazing teachers, flexible scheduling, and ability to complete my coursework on the go are just a few of the reasons this school has made such a difference in my journey. I wouldn’t be the golfer—or the person—I am today without them.”
Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year is now open. South Carolina Connections Academy hosts virtual information sessions for prospective families to learn more about the program and determine if online schooling is the right fit for their child. These sessions provide valuable insights into the enrollment process, curriculum and student support services.
