The Midlands Audio Institute is celebrating two decades of teaching audio engineering in Columbia, as it begins its 20th year offering the Audio Engineering Certificate Program in partnership with Midlands Technical College.
Spring 2025 classes start Monday, January 6, with the Intro to Audio course. Registration is open to all aspiring audio professionals.
Over the years, Midlands Audio Institute has trained hundreds of individuals who have gone on to careers operating sound systems at performance venues, festivals, houses of worship, sporting events, and corporate presentations. Many alumni are now studio owners and leaders in sound production.
“When I go in and have to set up a PA system, I can do that very confidently because of the skills I learned at Midlands Audio Institute,” shared Illia Dia, a former student and now a full-time musician.
The program’s instructors are some of Columbia’s most experienced audio and music professionals. According to Matt Stratton, Director of Business Information Technology, “The Audio Engineering Certificate program at Midlands Technical College has consistently empowered students with hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills. Our graduates excel in live sound, studio recording, and music production, reflecting the program’s enduring success and commitment to excellence.”
