Get All Together Now at Lexington County Public Library for fun and adventure.

The annual Summer Reading Program is here, and readers of all ages are encouraged to participate. Summer reading builds literacy and language skills, prevents the dreaded summer slide for school-aged children, allows teens and adults to experience the joy of reading and so much more.

Beginning June 1, visit a local branch or lexcolibrary.com/summerreading to register. Participants can earn prizes by completing activities and tracking their progress through August 14. To celebrate the start of summer reading, head to one of Lexington County Public Library’s many kickoff parties. All 10 locations will be hosting exciting events. Check out the program calendar on their website for dates, times, locations and detailed information.

Experience free programs and events all summer long — author talks, theatrical performances, art demonstrations and more. Enjoy classic favorites like Chad Crews, Porkchop Productions and Yasu Ishida, and new favorites like Gravity Check Juggling, Balloonopolis and more. Adult readers can catch Maxwell King, author of The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers, at Lexington Main Library on June 10 at 2 pm.
