Through a groundbreaking partnership with the Camille Griffin Graham Women’s Prison, SC Phil musicians are trained to engage incarcerated individuals through music, fostering healing, dialogue, and creative expression. More than 100 participants are already involved, showing how music can offer second chances and restore dignity.<\/p>\n
Working with a network of hospitals and community care centers—including Dorn VA Medical Center, Prisma Children’s Hospital, Transitions Homeless Center, and more—this program delivers therapeutic performances that help regulate the nervous system and promote well-being for patients and residents alike. A new bedside initiative is now active in Prisma’s Psychiatric Unit.<\/p>\n
With over 1.3 million adults in South Carolina living with a disability, the SC Phil’s Sensory Friendly Concert opens the door for more inclusive musical experiences. Audiences can move, vocalize, or dance—free from judgment or restriction. This initiative is expanding into special education classrooms and adult daycares, reaching more South Carolinians with diverse needs.<\/p>\n
Each year, over 200 young musicians are inspired and trained through the SC Phil’s Youth Orchestra program. The Summer Camp, in collaboration with USC, removes financial barriers for students who want year-round elite training, ensuring that talent—not income—determines opportunity.<\/p>\n
